I'm an introvert, but somehow, my hair gives me a bit of confidence.

Are you a natural redhead?
I am indeed a natural redhead; both my parents and my brother are reds, and both my kids, so it's by no means recessive in my family! I have Scottish heritage, so it's easy to see where it comes from. I've always just called myself a redhead. My hair is lightening as I age, though. As a child, I was really coppery.

Have you ever had a different hair color?
As a young adult, I did toy with the peroxide but always left the roots red - I had my fair share of teasing when I was younger but have never felt embarrassed about having red hair, and the older I've got, the more I appreciate it. Living or visiting different parts of the world has been interesting in terms of the reaction to it - in some places, you're an almost alien creature, but living in Edinburgh, I was part of the furniture. Now, in Australia, my children and I are often complimented on it (although I've lost count of the times people have asked me if I dye my daughter's hair- that has happened since she was around two!)
Do you enjoy being a redhead?
I like having red hair—I think for many of us, it's a defining characteristic. I'm an introvert, but somehow, it gives me a bit of confidence. Hopefully, my kids will feel proud of it, although I'm sure they'll experience some teasing because of it. As an adult, it's a good thing, but as a child or teenager, it can be challenging. My daughter is 8, and at this stage, she is very proud of it.
Favorite redheads?
Gillian Anderson is a woman I admire on many levels. And Julianne Moore is an absolute red queen!
There's a wonderful woman I follow on Instagram called Georgi (@iamsorryforyourlost). She is an amazing performer—hard to categorize but just brilliant.
